Ok, can I disable this crap? :/
I had some problems with GW crashing, but I think I resolved that with a reformat (needed it anyway). The problem is the "Hardware Failure" Dialog Box that pops up all the damn time, during login or character creation. Once I am in the game, no problems. I DONT have a hardware failure, no OC, nothing. Can I disable these stupid tests?
Asus A7N8X-E
512 RAM
AMD Athlon 2500+
9700 Pro

You're not the only one having problems with the hardware check -- there are a couple of other threads buried down here somewhere.
I contacted NCSoft/Anet on the issue and they recommended I lower my AGP setting from 8x to 4x in the BIOS. Another poster suggested altering the settings on the memory timing. Since I lowered my AGP setting, I have not had a problem during character creation (and I spent about 20 minutes the other night customizing a PVP character to see if I could force the error).
Many posters with this issue are using Asus motherboards. Don't know if its related to the nForce chipset or the board configuration.
And to answer your question: No, there does not seem to be a way to disable this test.
Let us know if you have any luck with this issue.

Asus P4P800SE for two weeks, not one issue.
Do you have your chipset and other drivers up to date?

Loviatar and geocurt,
Thanks for the feedback -- I see neither of your mobos are nForce chipset-based. Maybe the common thread is nForce or nVidia's chipset drivers (although I'm pretty sure another poster was having a similar problem with a VIA-based Asus board).
I do know that the Unified Driver Package for nForce chipsets contains an AGP driver -- maybe that's where the problem lies? As I posted before, altering my AGP settings seems to have resolved the issue.

It's a shame you have to cut your graphics pipeline in half, but it's a far cry better than frequent crashing. It absolutely could be the chipset/chipset drivers, I think that's the most critical component in your system, but I always thought the nforce chipsets had a reputation for stability.
I had constant crashes in both City of Heroes and GW with my old VIA P4M266A chipset mobo, since the new intel-based Asus not one issue.
Good luck to you, hope you continue to play trouble-free.

What they NEED to do, is disable this crap. Its none of ArenaNets freakin buisness if I want to overclock MY system, if I want to run the risk of damaging my system by playing their game with an OCed proc or a powersupply that isnt up to snuff, thats MY risk.
Everything of mine is updated and new. Everything else runs like a top.
This kind of irks me.

Don't worry, I run an OC that makes geeks wet themselves and play well. You have a driver issue, most likely. I get no errors from my OCed system...

Every single component driver is up to date, with all updates for windows and software...just got done with a complete system wipe, installed all drivers, restarted after each driver install, had no other progs running while installing, defragged before and after installing GW.

Not all new drivers are the best...
For nForce 2, google the Morpheusware Remix Extreme Video chipset drivers. I loved then when I was nF2.
